Your Kaywoodie likely will have a number stamped into the
shank.  This number may be a 2, 3 or 4 digit number. These
numbers can indicate the era of manufacture and or shape of the
pipe.
4 DIGIT PIPES

4 digit pipes are among some
of the oldest and most
sought after Kaywoodies.
These pipes were typically
produced between
1919-1938, depending on the
number.  On 4 digit
Kaywoodies, the first two
numbers tell us about some
of the features of the pipe
while the last two numbers
indicate the shape of the
pipe.  For this section, we
will focus only on the first
two numbers.

2 DIGIT PIPES

2 digit pipes indicate the
shape of the pipe, and
occasionally other features.

These shape numbers also
appear as the last two digits of
4 digit pipes.

Two digit pipes appear from
the mid 1920's all the way
until 1972.
